Meissen ‘Four Seasons’ Porcelain Figurine Collection
Set of (4) modeled by F.E. Meyer c.1760, each standing on a high base molded with gilt-edged scrollwork; including ‘Spring’ as a classical nymph standing by an urn of flowers and holding a posy; ‘Summer’ similarly clad, standing by an urn filled with leaves and holding a wheat sheaf; ‘Autumn’ as a young man holding grapes and a goblet; and ‘Winter’ as a bearded man wearing a fur-lined cloak warming his hands over a fire; all but ‘Summer’ having underglaze blue crossed swords marks to hollowed-out undersides, ‘Summer’ having solid base and crossed swords mark to reverse at lower edge
