Myanmar (Burma) Carved Wood Buddhist Monk Sculpture
Monk shown standing on a lotus pedestal, having both carved and applied details with blue finish throughout and red finish on portions of garments; constructed in segments and joined by pegs, having painted wood base
Provenance: The Estate of George ‘Yorgo’ Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan from 1965-2000
