Pre-Columbian Olmec Stone Seated Figure

Cream-mottled dark brown hard stone having carved geometric scrolls to limbs and back, bearing a label reading ‘Townsend / 3250 / Cholula Mex. Grave / Warnoch 1935’; together with a Mayan seated figure

Provenance: The Estate of George ‘Yorgo’ Demetrakopoulos; professor, assistant director of the Medieval Institute and assistant to the dean at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan from 1965-2000

Property from: a Kalamazoo, Michigan estate

Height: 5 1/4 inches, Width: 2 7/8 inches, Depth: 1 1/4 inches (Olmec (smaller))

Condition: Very Good, overall light wear consistent with normal use; the Mayan figure having a chipped forearm and toe, abraded facial features
