Samurai Tanto (Japanese, Edo Period 1644-1876) Dagger
Mumei (unsigned) hira-zukuri tanto in shirasaya mounts having 9.5-inch cutting edge from kissaki (tip) to solid silver habbaki (blade collar) and overall length of 13.25-inch from kissaki to nakagojiri (end of tang); having bright and active gunome midare hamon (temper line) with healthy fukura kaeru (turn-back) at kissaki; nakago having single mekugi ana and faint higaki yasuri file marks; including tanto-sized silk storage bag having floral motif

Condition: Very Good, blade possibly in original polish with no rust, pitting, spotting or fingerprints; a couple small areas of loose hada (grain) on non-tempered areas of blade and along mune (spine); light wear to fittings consistent with age; tear on inside of sword bag
