Description
Buddhist Shibuichi (Copper / Silver) and Gold Miniature Shrine / Zushi
Edo-Meiji period; body of shrine consisting of copper and silver alloy, having a small depiction of the deity atop shrine including details of gold with floral and aviary motifs throughout the shrine; the locking hinged doors open to reveal a classic depiction of the Japanese Buddhist deity known as Fudo Myo-O or Acala in Sanskrit; he is identified by a vajra (stylized lightning bolt) handled ken (double edged ritual sword) in his right hand and a loop of rope in his left (to cut through ignorance with wisdom and subdue demons); once fully opened, he is flanked by his two attendants on the inner side of each door, Kongara to his right and Seitaka to his left, also having gold details

Condition: Very Good, light wear from use; unmarked but central figure XRF tested as 14k gold with silver and copper, same for other areas of gold detailing; base detaches (included)
